Personal Profile

Dr. Zhiyue Lu, Professor in the Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, Doctoral Supervisor, National Distinguished Teacher of Ideological and Political Education in Curriculum of the Ministry of Education, Distinguished Scholar of Yat-sen at Sun Yat-sen University, and Visiting Professor at Mahidol University, Thailand. Currently serves as a member of the Party Committee of Zhongshan School of Medicine, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Tropical Disease Control of the Ministry of Education at Sun Yat-sen University, and Executive Deputy Director of the Medical Experimental Teaching Center of Sun Yat-sen University.

Dr. Lu obtained his Ph.D. degree from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University in 2005. He completed his postdoctoral training in the Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University in 2007 and stayed on as a faculty member. In 2012, he was selected as a "Young Backbone Teacher" under the China Scholarship Council program and studied abroad for one year at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in the United States. From 2019 to 2021, he was dispatched by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee to serve as the vice president of Hainan Medical College.

In recent years, he has been engaged in research work in the fields of pathogen-host adaptation and rapid tracing of important invasive pathogens. He has presided over 26 projects, including major projects funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, topics of national key research and development projects, and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a total funding exceeding 15 million yuan. He has published more than 100 papers in domestic and international professional academic journals, including more than 60 SCI papers (34 as corresponding author/co-corresponding author, among which 14 are in the first quartile and 8 are in the second quartile of the Chinese Academy of Sciences). He has obtained 10 national patents and 3 software copyrights. He has edited or co-edited 7 national planning textbooks. He has guided students to win 5 first prizes/gold medals in the finals of the "National Undergraduate Innovative Research and Experimental Design Competition in Basic Medicine" and 1 gold medal in the National "Medicine + X" Undergraduate Virtual Simulation Excellent Works Exhibition.
