Academic Achievements

Important Academic Research Achievements and Contributions

The main research focuses on the pathogenic mechanisms of Clonorchis sinensis, including the occurrence and development mechanisms of liver fibrosis and cholangiocarcinoma induced by liver flukes. It explores the specific protein molecules in the secretory and excretory products of Clonorchis sinensis that activate hepatic stellate cells through direct or indirect pathways to cause liver fibrosis and studies the specific molecular mechanisms by which they cause liver fibrosis. In addition, the relationship between Clonorchis sinensis infection and cholangiocarcinoma is also an important research content. The molecular mechanisms of Plasmodium falciparum invasion into human red blood cells are also studied, laying a foundation for the development of malaria vaccines and anti-malaria drugs. The research team has successively received funding from multiple national and provincial/ministerial-level funds such as the National Key Basic Research Development Program (973 Program), the National Key R & D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation. The relevant research results have been published in journals such as PNAS, JBC, Blood, Frontiers in Biology, and Parasites & Vectors. So far, more than 70 SCI papers have been published, serving as the chief editor or co-author of multiple monographs, cultivating many doctoral and master's students, applying for multiple invention patents, and obtaining authorization for 3 patents. The team has a good foundation in parasitology research and has gained a certain influence both at home and abroad. Three provincial/ministerial-level scientific research awards have been received. Served as the chief editor or co-author of multiple textbooks and monographs.
