Personal Profile
Chen Suqin, M.D., is an associate professor and master's supervisor at the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University. She graduated from Sun Yat-sen Medical University with a bachelor's degree, and both her master's and doctoral degrees were obtained from Sun Yat-sen University. From August 2008 to August 2010, she engaged in postdoctoral research at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center/New Orleans Children's Hospital in the United States.
She has long been committed to the teaching of medical genetics, the research on the pathogenesis of genetic diseases, gene diagnosis, and prenatal diagnosis. She has mapped the families of various rare/less common genetic diseases to specific locations in the genome, identified mutation sites in some of these families, and established corresponding gene diagnosis and prenatal diagnosis technologies, laying the foundation for the treatment and prevention of specific genetic diseases.

Academic Achievements
She has rich experience in the pathogenesis, gene diagnosis, and prenatal diagnosis of thalassemia. She has also provided gene diagnosis and genetic counseling for a variety of rare disease cases, such as Gaucher's disease, Pompe disease, Crouzon syndrome, Rett syndrome, Lowe syndrome, incontinentia pigmenti, Norrie disease, hereditary optic atrophy, hereditary dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia, and hereditary spastic paraplegia. These efforts contribute to the clarification of the pathogenesis of genetic diseases, and are beneficial for the early and precise treatment of patients as well as the eugenics of affected families.
She has presided over one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and one project funded by the Guangdong Medical Research Fund. As a main researcher, she has participated in and completed the research of several projects. She has published more than 20 papers as the first author or corresponding author in important journals of this discipline.
