Personal Profile
Zhao Wei, Ph.D., is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Sun Yat-sen University. He is an overseas high-level talent (youth) and an introduced talent of Sun Yat-sen University. He serves as the vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Association for Brain Development and Brain Disease Prevention and Treatment and the executive director of the Guangdong Provincial Anatomical Society.
Zhao Wei obtained his bachelor's and doctoral degrees in biology at Nanjing University. He then conducted postdoctoral research at Baylor College of Medicine in the United States. After that, he worked as an assistant researcher at Methodist Hospital affiliated to Weill Medical College of Cornell University in the United States. In 2015, he joined the Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University as a professor and doctoral supervisor.
His current research focuses on the field of epigenetic regulation in the tumor microenvironment. Specifically, it includes:
- Revealing the subpopulations of cells in the tumor microenvironment through single-cell transcriptome and epigenome analysis and identifying key epigenetic factors.
- Exploring the functions of regulatory factors of RNA modification and histone modification in the fate determination of cells in the tumor microenvironment.
- Developing the application of epigenetic drugs in tumor treatment.
To date, he has published more than 30 papers in international authoritative academic journals such as Cell (2013, first author), Cancer Research (2019, corresponding author), Science Advances (2020, corresponding author), Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy (2020, corresponding author), Advanced Science (2020, 2021, corresponding author), etc., among which he has 18 papers as a corresponding author (including co-corresponding author).
